Tal Granite is the Vice President of Chess Institute of Canada, the founder of Chess World and the creator of the Chess World curriculum® used by CIC.
After graduating from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a degree in Linguistics and Liberal Arts, Tal spent years testing and implementing different methods for using chess to enhance the lives of children. Combined with study, work and research in the fields of education, psychology, human behavior, program development and chess as an educational tool, Tal created the ‘Thinking Different™’ school program. The program uses the game of chess as an educational tool to teach the art of setting and achieving goals, and was approved by The Toronto District School Board, The Israeli Ministry of Education and The York Region School Board. ‘Thinking Different™’ is delivered in Canada by Chess Institute of Canada, bringing the joy of chess and the excitement of goal setting to thousands of Canadian students. The unique approach, experience and passion Tal brings through the program he created have been a driving force in its success.
Tal has been a member of The Israel Chess Federation Chess Instruction Committee, and is a World Chess Federation (FIDE) certified International Chess Instructor. Tal is an educator, teacher, curriculum developer and speaker, as well as an experienced summer camp director, leading CIC’s day camps in Toronto.
